Workshop: Engaging the newsroom and the community

Gregory Favre led the closing session, aimed at providing participants with ideas and tools for better engagement with the community based on what they have heard and learned throughout the conference.

Gregory Favre is distinguished fellow in journalism values, leadership and management faculty at the Poynter Institute. Gregory was executive editor of The Sacramento Bee and vice president/news of McClatchy Newspapers since 1989. He grew up working on a family newspaper in Mississippi, and has also been managing editor of the Chicago Sun-Times, managing editor of the Chicago Daily News, editor of the Corpus Christi Caller-Times, news director at WPLG-TV in Miami, editor of the Palm Beach Post, managing editor of the Dayton Daily News, and assistant sports editor of the Atlanta Journal. He also is past president of the American Society of Newspaper Editors.
