Information Graphics, Illustration, Print And Web Design
I’m a graphic artist and designer with twelve years’ experience producing information graphics and illustrations for print and online publications. I’m also an assistant professor in the MTSU School of Journalism’s visual communication sequence.
Most of the examples on this site were done for three U.S. newspapers, The Seattle Times, the San Jose Mercury News and The Orange County Register. They were created through a variety of media from traditional — pencils and paintbrushes — to digital — graphic and 3D-modeling software.
The purpose of information graphics is to present information in a clear, easy-to-follow sequence through a combination of text and appropriate images, whether for print publications or for online use. Illustrations that accompany articles are intended to suggest and create interest in the topic.
Newsrooms are highly collaborative operations and a lot of these examples were created through teamwork. In each case I have listed the names and roles of all who were involved.
